Promise Healthcare Announces Walk-in Clinics

Promise Healthcare announced that they have added the service of medical walk-in clinics at two of its locations. Frances Nelson at 819 Bloomington Road in Champaign and their Urbana clinic at Presence Covenant’s Community Resource Center can now welcome walk-in established and new patients.

“It was the natural next step to try to reach those in our community who lack a medical home,” said Nancy Greenwalt, executive director of Promise Healthcare. “The last couple of years Promise Healthcare extended our hours and added doctors and nurse practitioners so that the health center can welcome new patients. We know that many still go to the emergency room that would be better served by a primary care provider. We are trying to remove barriers to care and hope the walk-in access will help.”

“The walk-in access is for patients who are established with Promise Healthcare or for those who don’t have provider,” said Greenwalt. “It is not designed to be convenient care for those who have a doctor at one of the other clinics.”
